26pp, staple bound pamphlet with printed paper wraps. Some bruising and soiling to wraps. Lower for corner bumped. Includes two maps. Very good.

Printed copy of a lecture by the late Dutch broadcaster and folk music collector Ate Doornbosh delivered at the 15th study Session on the European Ballad, delivered at Trinity College Dublin in 1985, providing an academic overview of different versions of the noted Flemish Heer Halewijn supernatural murder ballad with speculation as to its spread and influence on similar stories like Jan Albert, Gert Olbert, and possibly even the French Bluebeard.

A noted “song hunter” (liedjesjager), Doornbosch provides a thorough synopsis of the Halewijn murder ballad and its text, highlighting variations found in his research and various field recordings.

One copy in OCLC as of April 2023.
