Fourth edition of the highly influential Spiritualist text Penetralia by the Poughkeepsie Seer Andrew Jackson Davis, recording his answers to various philosophical and existential questions while in trance.
This copy owned by Lois Fuller, wife of John Fuller Jr , medium, author and signer of the 1854 petition to Congress to investigate spiritualist phenomena sponsored and organized by Senator Nathaniel P Tallmadge. Fuller is best remembered for his 1853 book Reports from the Celestial Court which purported to “be dictated mostly by the spirit of Daniel Webster” as well as his contributions to The Spiritual Telegraph newspaper. (His spirit may also have been channeled in the pages of Owens’ Psychography (1893)).
