First paperback edition of The Paradox of Instruction, one of the earliest books from the controversial spiritual teacher later known as Adi Da Samraj (1939 – 2008), founder of the new age religious movement “Adidam”, under the name Bubba Free John. Born as Franklin Albert Jones in Jamaica, Queens in 1939, Samraj claimed to have an experience of divine awakening in 1970 following a period of study in India, after which time he began teaching as a self-proclaimed avatar under several names.
