Description

Kahne, Harry [?]. The Multiple Mentality Course. Rex Research. Berkeley, California. Copyright Mel Saunders 1982.

An original Rex Research “information folio” or “InFolio”, this hand stapled packet represents an early release from underground counterculture publisher Rex Research, founded by Robert A. Nelson in Berkeley, CA in 1982. Nelson, known as “Moebius Rex”, was a founding member of the parody religion The Church of Subgenius, and a frequent host of early Puzzling Evidence radio shows on Berkeley’s KPFA radio station. Through Rex Research, Nelson released “collected Articles about suppressed, dormant, or emerging Sciences, Technologies, Inventions, Theories, Therapies” like alchemy, ozone therapy, and “mind-tech”.

Harry Kahne, billed as “The Man With The Multiple Mind” in his vaudeville performances, was famous for his unique coordination-based mentalism act doing things like writing 5 different words simultaneously using chalk in both hands, both feet and his mouth. This document, “The Multiple Mentality Course” purportedly written by Kahne, claims to be able to teach this same sort of ability in three months with an hour a day of practice. However, thus far, there appears to be no bibliographic record of Kahne writing a book. Includes lessons on poetry recitation, word encoding, and creative visualization.

8.5 x 11″ xerox folio. 66 stapled duplicates of typewritten manuscript. Some soiling and curling at edges of first page with publishers logo and address stamped near top. Soiling to back of last page. Actually has one more page than stated on first page. Good condition.
