The first edition of The Modern Witchcraft Spellbook by Anna Riva, a collection of hoodoo influenced spells using oils, roots, psalms, and portions of the Sixth and Seventh Books of Moses. In addition to spells for romantic attraction, gambling luck, personal power, spiritual blessings, crossing and uncrossing, and more, the text also includes alphabetical sections on the use of herbs and roots for various purposes including protection, wishing, luck, and black magic.

Anna Riva was the pen name of Dorothy Spencer (1992 – 2003) was one of the more prolific author of modern folk magic books of the midcentury American occult revival, particularly famous for her still sold oil and incense formulations.
