The First Edition of the Collected Books Of Charles Fort Printed For The Fortean Society in 1941

Fort, Charles and Thayer, Tiffany. The Books of Charles Fort. Henry Holt and Company. New York. 1941. First edition.

First collected edition of the complete books of Charles Fort published for the newly created Fortean Society by the group’s founder, Tiffany Thayer (who also provides this volume’s introduction). Fort, a cataloguer and reporter upon inconvenient “damned” facts seemingly unexplained by science, many of which he discovered during his extensive research sessions at the New York Public Library, is best remembered for this books The Book of the Damned and Lo! Published prior to his death in 1932, but this volume and the subsequent development of the field of “Forteana” and the still published Fortean Times have helped spread his approach to the apparently paranormal and inexplicable.

1125pp. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Corners and bottom spine bumped and rubbed. Minor losses bottom spine. Spine worn and faded. Text block and endpapers toned and foxed. Pages clean. Good.
