Scarce first American edition of the 1927 French The Astrological Tarot (Astromancy) by Georges Muchery, which first appeared in English in a UK edition published by Rider and Co in 1928. An important work combining the principles of astrology and cartomancy toward the creation of an original system and associated 48 card deck – beautifully illustrated by the uncredited Henri Armengol and reproduced in black and white in the present volume—consisting of 36 Zodiacal cards, 9 star and planet cards, and one card each for the ascendant, ascending and descending nodes, and the part of fortune.

312pp. Purple cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and blind stamped borders to boards. Cloth lightly stained by dustjacket ink. Corners bumped. Spine ends worn. Text block and pages toned with occasional foxing. Illustrated throughout. Original dustjacket with toning. Tears to top spine, back spine joint, and both flaps. Minor soiling to spine. Good.
