Rare Chaos Magick Text “Starry Wisdom” from UK Based Esoteric Order of Dagon Group Inspired By The Works of HP Lovecraft
Dunwich Lodge Esoteric Order of Dagon. Starry Wisdom. Pagan News Publications. Leeds, UK. 1990. Second Edition. November 1990.
“The E.O.D. should be an order of shape-shifters for the human mask is frail and liable to shatter on impact with greater reality.”
A guide to the theory and practice of chaos magick using the forces of the Cthulhu Mythos inspired by the fiction of HP Lovecraft. Featuring essays and rituals by members Zebulon, Tenebrous, Qoph 100, and Kamog, the text is heavily inspired by the work of Typhonian OTO founder Kenneth Grant, citing extensively from his Nightside of Eden and Outside The Circles of Time, as well as by extension the Voudon-Gnostic workings of Michael Bertiaux, the “atavistic resurgence” methods of Austin Osman Spare, as well as the psychoanalytic readings of Lovecraft scholar Dirk W Mosig.
Viewing the Great Old Ones as “atavisms of pre-human era states of consciousness… when the “dragon brain” was the seat of awareness”, the text offers explanations of the various gods and their correspondences, a rite of Communion with Cthulhu, a consciousness altering Rite of Transmutational Sorcery to achieve union with Azathoth, and elements of a greater theology, some of which is derived from “the Black Qabalahs of astral books”.
Part physical order and part “dream school” the Esoteric Order of Dagon claims allegiances to members of other groups like the Yig Lodge in Cincinnati, Ohio, referencing their rituals at the Serpent Mound UNESCO World Heritage Site.
