This 1927 second edition of The Theory of Socialism : The Social Questions Of The Present Written For Youth was written by future parliament member Ib Kolbjorn for the Social Democratic Youth of Denmark (Danmarks Socialdemokratiske Ungdom). Initially released in 1924 while he was still a philosophy student, Kolbjorn’s text offers an analysis and critique of contemporary capitalism as well as an overview of socialist thought and what a socialist revolution might look like. Interestingly the DSU was founded in 1920 due to disagreements and an eventual rupture with the future Communist Youth of Denmark (DKU). This copy bears the pen signature of Frederick Knudsen of Copenhagen, dated 1930, as well as various pencil notes and underlines in the same hand.

8vo, 5-92pp + 1 index, three-quarter bound with marbled boards and red leather. Corners bumped and rubbed. Gilt spine faded. Marbled pastedowns and endpapers. Three dated names in pencil on second free endpaper, ownership signature of Frederick Knudsen, Copenhagen, dated 1930 in pen on title page top margin. Occasional pencil notes and underlining. Good condition.
