Early Issue of Arthurian Pendragon Society Journal, Pendragon, Dedicated to the Myths, Legends, Origins, and Archetypes of Merlin

Lovegrove, Chris, ed. Pendragon Journal Of The Pendragon Society Vol 11 No 1. Bristol UK. January 1978.

Representative 1970s issue of Pendragon (1967 – 2009), the quarterly journal of the Pendragon Society, dedicated to Arthurian Studies, and founded by Jess Foster in 1959. Originally primarily historical, the Society helped led the five year excavation of South Cadbury Hill Fort in pursuit of the historical Camelot in the 1960s before turning attention to Wales, Glastonbury, and the increasingly popular Celtic New Age. This issue, featuring a forward by Foster one year before her death, is dedicated to the wizard Merlin and his associated archetypes including myths, local lore, and some psychogeographic exploration.

Some copies of Pendragon held in 14 institutions per OCLC as of August 2024.

20pp. Staple bound in printed green paper wraps. Green ink mark front wrap. Reading creases and some edgewear. Illustrated throughout. Very good.
