Description

Noyes, John Humphrey. Male Continence. Office of the American Socialist. Oneida,
NY. 1877. Second edition teaching pamphlet from the Oneida Community, containing the final update to their teachings on male orgasm and ejaculation.

An update to Oneida Community Founder John Humphrey Noyes’
1872 treatise on male sexual control, intended to proselytize the
Perfectionist belief in controlled reproduction and spiritual
purification via the avoidance of the male orgasm. Similar in many ways to the Daoist position, Noyes taught male members of the Oneida Community not to pursue a base orgasm, but instead to seek spiritual betterment. Conveniently, this also allowed Noyes to select all the best looking and youngest women in the Free Love community for his own sexual partners, as he was the only man in the group with was sufficiently in control of his desires.
