Uccello, Joseph. Occlith: Labyrinthus Archidoxae Florilegium Of The Arcane Sciences in Seven Volumes Numbered 0 – 6, Being Vol 1: Codex Homunculi : Ancient Magical, Alchemical, and Hermetic Texts on The Creation, Uses, Attributes & Implications of Artificial Human Beings and Related Matter. Viatorium Press and Ouroboros Press. Seattle. 2016. First edition. Limited edition, one of 555 copies.
A scarce collection on one of the most controversial and least understood elements of traditional alchemy, the creation of the homunculus or small artificial human, featuring newly 11 translated “homuncular” texts from Paracelsus (Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim), Heinrich Kunrath, Jabir ibn Hayyan, and other noted historical alchemists bound together with six further early English translations for the first time. Compiled and partly translated by Joseph Uccello, the award winning book designer behind Viatorium Press, this book represents the second volume in the Occlith series of alchemical and magical texts which are a collaboration between Viatorum and Ouroboros Press. Uccello previously collaborated with Ouroboros for their 2008 edition of the Theatrum Chemicum Britannicum.
One of only 555 limited hardcover copies, it also includes original folding dust jacket which unfurls into poster size geometrical alchemy diagrams.
8vo, 288pp, blind-stamped brown cloth boards. Corners lightly bumped with slight rubbing to lower fore corners. Illustrated throughout with diagrams, illustrations, and photo plates. Near fine. Folding band dust jacket fully intact. Minor scuffing to title face. Creasing to one fold as well as small spot of yellow staining. Very good.
