A beautifully preserved copy of New Frontiers of the Mind The Story of the Duke Experiments by JB Rhine chronicling his controversial ESP and parapsychological research at Duke University

Rhine, J.B. New Frontiers of The Mind : The Story Of The Duke Experiments. Farrar & Rhinehart : New York. 1937. First Edition.

This first edition of the second book by controversial parapsychology researcher Joseph Banks Rhine concerning his ESP experiments conducted at Duke University is a gorgeous glimpse into the history of popular conceptions of the paranormal. Rhine’s university backed tests of purported psychic powers and extrasensory perception were first to use specially developed testing cards, known as Zener cards after their designer Rhine’s collaborator psychologist Karl Zener, to investigate the possible talents of various volunteers, including Duke undergrads.
