Published two years after the original 1944 Indian edition, this well-preserved first American Edition of The Man Eaters of Kumaon recounts the experiences of Jim Corbett , man-eating tiger hunter and naturalist from his 30 year career as a hired gun for the British Raj.

Edward James Corbett ( 1875 – 1955 ), a lieutenant colonel in the British Indian Army, began his career hunting man-eating tigers and leopards in the Kumaon region 1907 with his successful hunt of the Champawat Tiger , a female believed to be responsible for over 430 human deaths. This text provides a full first-person overview of his successful hunts through to 1937 with photographs and tiger paw prints provided by the New York Zoological Society.
