A well preserved first American edition of Aleister Crowley’s complete Magick, or Liber ABA, consisting of Magick In Theory and Practice, as well as Crowley’s other writings on Meditation, Yoga, and his personal philosophy of Thelema. This edition of Magick is notable for being edited in collaboration between Crowley ’s literary executor, John Symmonds, and his student (and arguable successor) occult author Kenneth Grant and features footnotes and commentaries from both. Published the year after the initial British publication, this American first edition includes the dustjacket was designed by the Grant’s wife, collaborator, and frequent illustrator Steffi Grant, who created the jackets for nearly all of his books.
511pp. Black cloth boards with title, publisher, and author gilt to spine. Some wear to corners and edges. Text block toned. Some spotting and previous owners name front pastedown. Occasional marginal spotting, pages otherwise clean. Illustrated with numerous diagrams and 3 plates. Original non-priceclipped dustjacket with wear and some tearing at corners. Mintor staining to top edge and spine. Interior folds spotted. Very good in good.
