Editorial Departments of Renim Ribao (People’s Daily), Hongqi (Red Flag) and Jiefangjun Bao (Liberation Army Daily). Leninism or Social – Imperialism? — In Commemoration of the Centenary of the Birth of the Great Lenin. Foreign Languages Press : Peking. 1970. First English edition.
Scarce first English edition of the influential pamphlet Leninism or Social – Imperialism published in Peking ( Beijing ) and edited by leading Chinese Communist newspaper teams in honor of Vladimir Lenin ‘s 100th birthday.
Edited by the-then leaders of China’s major party newspapers, People’s Daily, Liberation Army Daily and Red Flag, this treatise on “social – imperialism” begins with a brief biography of Vladimir Lenin before placing him into the canon of Communist visionaries second only to Marx and Engels through quotes selected from the speeches and statements of Chairman Mao Zedong. Throughout Leninism or Social – Imperialism bolded quotes from Lenin and Mao break up the text and attempt to establish the Chinese Cultural Revolution as the successor to the Russian October Revolution. Similarly, the structure of the text expands on Lenin’s notion that only a global Socialist imperialism “socialist in words, imperialist in deeds” can appropriately counter the imperialism of the West and the United States.
Includes an appropriately socialist realist portrait of Lenin as its frontispiece.
