Description
2018, Scarlet Imprint Publishers, London. First Edition of an unusual and previously unpublished collection of Islamic magic texts concerning Jinn summoning, divination, and control.
Near fine condition. One of 72 numbered limited edition copies. Islamic binding, full chestnut morocco, marbled endpapers, copper edges and lettering to spine, finished with a silk ribbon and presented in a slipcase. Sole flaw is a small superficial stain to slipcase exterior.
An unusual and unique text, to say the least, Jinn Sorcery represents the first translation and publication of rare Islamic magic texts for summoning and working with the Jinn or Djinn, described in the Qu’ran and Hadith as disembodied inhuman spirits of fire leftover from an earlier creation. Although fascinating parallels exist between the Jinn and fairies, demons, and other spirit groups, most Western audiences are familiar with them in their anglicized form as “genies.” Despite the reputation gathered by the Arabian Nights and popular culture, the Jinn as described are terrifyingly awesome in their power and best approached carefully.
Contents include:
Jinn Dream Revelation. Scrying techniques. Jinn working and Evocation rites. The summoning of one’s personal Qareen– similar to a Guardian Angel or Devil– and seven evictions to protect oneself, others, and locations from Jinn spirits.
Beautifully crafted, interesting, and well-illustrated throughout, publisher Scarlet Imprint describes this as a “talismanic” copy, purposely manufactured in accordance with astrological considerations to serve as a powerful tool all its own.
