Heeren, A.H.L. Historical Researches into the Politics, Intercourse, and Trade of the Carthaginians, Ethiopians, and Egyptians : Volume I. D.A. Talboys : Oxford. 1832. First English Edition.

A well preserved first English edition of the seminal political and economic history of ancient Carthage, Egypt, and Ethiopia by Arnold Herman Ludwig Heeren. In addition to covering the religion and structure of the Carthaginian empire, the text describes the state and armies of Ethiopia and both groups interactions with the ancient Egyptians and provides detailed maps including archaeological sites. This copy once belonged to the Salem , Mass Public Library, an entertaining connection to the esoteric importance of the religions of the ancient Carthaginians and Egyptians (including human sacrifice).
