Signed First Edition of High Priest, The Psychedelic Autobiography of LSD Pioneer Timothy Leary
Leary, Timothy. High Priest. The World Publishing. New York. 1968. First Edition, First Printing.
A signed first edition of the psychedelic autobiography of Timothy Leary broken into 16 trips taking place between 1959 and 1962. Each chapter is interspersed with I Ching hexagrams and numerous illustrations, with each trip being “guided” by figures from Allen Ginsberg to Krishna. Published prior to Leary’s incarceration in 1970, the book covers the Concord Prison Experiments and Leary’s time at Milbrook and bears the mark of his League for Spiritual Discovery, described in the note as “a legally incorporated religion dedicated to the ancient sacred sequence of turning-on, tuning-in, and dropping-out. Its aim is to help recreate every man as God and every woman as Goddess”.
353pp. Patterned cloth boards with cloth spine. Gilt lettering to spine. Spine sunned. Top fore corners rubbed. Minor soiling to text block. Signed by Leary on half title. Lack dust jacket. Very good.
