First edition of the anthology Of, By & About by Henry Miller published by Oscar Baradinsky of the Alicat Bookshop five years after Miller’s departure for California from New York. Published during the period when Miller was still working on the Rosy Cross Trilogy, this marks the second title Miller had published with Baradinksy and only the third Alicat title, in all, not to be part of the Yonkers, NY publisher’s “Outcast Chapbook” and Outcast Poets series.
The Outcast books were experiments in avant-garde and limited edition publishing originally started in 1945 with the publication of Miller’s essay “Obscenity and the Law of Reflection” and grew into a collection of 18 titles including works by Anais Nin and Percy Shelley.
4to, staple bound, printed card wrap pamphlet. Wear with chipping and losses to edges. Front wrap worn and creased along fore edge. Small 2m tear across text margin. Binding loose. 1 of 1000 copies of which 750 were sold. Good – Fair condition.
