A well preserved early copy of the important poetry collection, Gitanjali (Song Offerings) by Rabindranath Tagore, who became the first Asian person to win the Nobel Prize for this text in 1913. A collection of 103 original Bengali poems and translated into English by Tagore, Gitanjali was originally published in a 1912 limited edition, before the issue of this first trade (second overall edition), which was the first to include the important, glowing introduction by Irish writer, playwright, poet, and occultist, William Butler Yeats.
