In addition to brief descriptions of still extent groups like the KKK, the text also outlines violent leftist groups of the period such as the Environmental Liberation Front, and the Weather Underground, and the Symbionese Liberation Army, remembered for the 1974 kidnapping of Patty Hearst. Among other interesting details are the profiles of likely terrorist group members including psychologists, academics, and students.
