Description

1965 First Edition of Underground UFO Classic The Book of Adamski From Saucerian Publications Founder Gray Barker of Clarksburg, West Virginia

Barker, Gray. Gray Barker’s Book of Adamski. Saucerian Publications. Clarksburg, West Virginia. [1965].

The first “major” book to consider the life and work of George Adamski George, a Polish immigrant who became something like a prophet after purportedly encountering Venusian “Space Brothers” in 1952, with writings from his co-authors, published in the year of his death by the notable underground alternative publisher Saucerian Publications, operated by Gray Barker.

The text includes a recounting of the outline of Adamski’s encounters with beings from Venus, an analysis of his photographs, and reproductions of his various writings. Also included are Adamski’s letters with Gray Barker as well as strange letters the author received from supposed members of the United States government.

Gray Barker (1925-1984) was an American writer and ufologist known for his work on UFO sightings and the popularization of the “Men in Black” phenomenon, who widely published his work through various periodicals and books from his imprint Saucerian Publications in Clarksburg, West Virginia (Barker is also featured as a recurring character in John Keel’s The Mothman Prophecies).

78pp. 4to. Perfect bound in printed blue paper wraps. Spine and edges sunned. Corners rubbed. Reading creases with some wear to spine. Illustrated throughout. Very good.
