Vallee, Jacques. Anatomy Of A Phenomenon : Unidentified Objects in Space — A Scientific Appraisal. Henry Regnery Company : Chicago. 1965. First edition, second printing. Ex-library.
Anatomy Of A Phenomenon was the first book by Jacques Vallee to explore UFO phenomena following his own sighting experience in 1955. Designed to help researchers become familiar with the “problem” this text serves as a catalogue of prominent UFO sightings and purported alien abductions — including, controversially, the Catholic Church recognized miracles at Fatima Portugal in 1917 — it predates Vallee’s later assertion that an extraterrestrial origin for UFOs does not adequately explain the appearance of similar phenomena in folklore and mythology, though his references to Carl Jung’s own UFO research (as well as the work of Dr John Manas on “Metaphysical UFOs”) teases that later development in his thinking, explicated in Passport to Magonia.
