First US edition of occult guide to Egypt written by British esoteric author and bookseller Raphael Hurst, a partner in The Atlantis Bookshop (staple of the London occult scene since 1922) who went by the pseudonym Paul Brunton along with several others. A spiritual sequel to his highly popular and influential A Search In Secret India (1934), this work offers an account of the author’s travels through Egypt including visits to ruins with speculations on ancient mystery traditions as well as meetings with modern fakirs, snake charmers, hypnotists, and wonder workers, thoroughly illustrated with his own photographs and commissioned illustrations.

287pp. Salmon cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Corners and spine ends bumped. Some bubbling upper cloth both boards. Spine sunned with minor wear and  a small ink spot. Text block and pages toned. Illustrated throughout with photographs and drawings. Lacks dust jacket. Good.
