The first separate publication of the essay “Cocaine” written by occultist Aleister Crowley for the magazine The International in 1917. Published in response to the then-recent Harrison Narcotics Act of 1914 which outlawed non-prescription use of cocaine, Crowley draws on his own experiences with the drug in this invective against prohibition. This edition by Level Press features an illuminating forward by David Hoye and a cover and illustrations by April Funcke.
