An early issue of the Boston area gay newspaper, Fag Rag, featuring part III of activist and author Arthur Evans’ series Witchcraft The Gay Counterculture focusing on the worship of sex in the stone age. (Evans’ research was later published in 1978 in a book of the same title). Includes op-eds, cartoons (many sexual in nature), as well as puzzles, ads, and an area calendar.
Fag Rag, sometimes subtitled the “gay male newspaper” ran from 1971 to 1987, and was noted for publishing authors such as William S Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Gore Vidal, and Christopher Isherwood.
28pp. Newsprint folio. Folded. Tears to some edges worst along outermost wraps. Pages toned but clean. Fairly good with chipping. Reading copy.
