This history of the International Order of Good Templars , a fraternal order founded upon Temperance principles of sobriety and drug prohibition, covers the group’s founding as the Knights of Jericho in Utica, New York in 1851 before moving through the important events and noted Templar lodges founded in Denmark in the late nineteenth century. In addition to providing locations and photographs for various lodges the text also includes names, portraits, and biographies for prominent Danish members of the order.

8vo, 503pp + [8] appendix, three quarter binding with marbled boards, title and author gilt to spine. Wear with leather losses as corners and spine ends. Floral pastedowns and endpapers with pen ownership signature on first free endpaper. Pages toned but clean. Includes numerous photo portraits of Good Templar members. Good condition.
